Japan's AI guidelines and the Hiroshima Process one year on

Japan's approach to AI governance has stayed lighter-touch than Europe's, but a year into the Hiroshima Process the practical convergence is real. The country's AI Guidelines for Business, published by METI and MIC, and the international code of conduct developed under the Hiroshima Process both ask providers to document the same core things: intended use, evaluation, and post-market monitoring.

Multinationals building for both regions are increasingly running a single evidence pipeline that satisfies EU Article 53 documentation and Japan's transparency expectations at the same time.
